According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the ENERGY
STAR label is the trusted national symbol for energy efficiency in the
new home industry. By building and promoting ENERGY STAR qualified new
homes, ENERGY STAR partners play a valuable role in preventing pollution
and protecting our environment.
A group of Houston area homebuilders have partnered with EPA and the ENERGY
STAR program to construct and deliver energy-efficient homes to local
homebuyers. According to EPA, an ENERGY STAR qualified home uses less
energy for heating, cooling, and water heating than a home built to the
Texas residential building code. This can help homeowners reduce their
energy use. These homes have energy-efficient features that can help homeowners
use less energy for the supply of heating, cooling and hot water. These
homes earn the ENERGY STAR label after an independent Home Energy Rating
Service (HERS) provider completes a verification process of the home's
energy use. Contact any ENERGY STAR builder to learn more about their
ENERGY STAR homes and HERS provider.
